Memorial Day Thoughts

Growing up, I didn’t know the difference between the Navy, Army or Marine Corps. I just lumped all branches of the military together. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I knew nothing before I met Ryan. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Going through deployment, attending funerals of friends gone too soon, & moving to new cities every 4ish years...it’s all apart of my life now. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s not easy. Don’t tell me I chose it. I chose love, not this the unexpected goodbyes. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Love allows me to endure the hardships. Love allows me to keep putting myself out there. Love allows me to be strong. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
On Memorial Day, my heart breaks for the friends we’ve lost. It breaks for the memories my husband won’t experience with myself or our sons. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But this day is about gratitude. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I’m thankful for those who gave their life serving our country. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Because of them, my husband is a safer pilot. Because of them, I get the life I have in America. Because of them, I’m learning to not take the goodness in my life for granted. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Today, isn’t about BBQs or the sales it’s about hugging those you loved ones extra tight.
