Being A Military Spouse
Growing up, I didn’t know the difference between the Navy, Army or Marine Corps. I just lumped all branches of the military together.
I knew nothing before I met this guy.
Going through deployment, attending funerals of friends gone too soon & moving to new cities every four years. It’s all a part of this life.
It’s not easy. Don’t tell me I chose it. I chose love, not this life.
Love allows me to endure the hardships. Love allows me to keep putting myself out there. Love allows me to be strong.
On days like Memorial Day, my heart breaks for the friends we’ve lost. It breaks for the memories my husband won’t experience with me or my sons.
But today is about gratitude.
I’m thankful for those who gave their lives serving our country.
Because of them, my husband is a safer pilot. Because of them, I get the life I have in America. Because of them, I’m learning to not take the goodness in my life for granted.
