Being A Military Spouse

Growing up, I didn’t know the difference between the Navy, Army or Marine Corps. I just lumped all branches of the military together. ⁣⁣

I knew nothing before I met this guy. ⁣⁣

Going through deployment, attending funerals of friends gone too soon & moving to new cities every four years. It’s all a part of this life. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣It’s not easy. Don’t tell me I chose it. I chose love, not this life. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣Love allows me to endure the hardships. Love allows me to keep putting myself out there. Love allows me to be strong. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣On days like Memorial Day, my heart breaks for the friends we’ve lost. It breaks for the memories my husband won’t experience with me or my sons. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣But today is about gratitude. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣I’m thankful for those who gave their lives serving our country. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣Because of them, my husband is a safer pilot. Because of them, I get the life I have in America. Because of them, I’m learning to not take the goodness in my life for granted. ⁣⁣
