Are You Struggling With Resentment?

Words of affirmation are my love language. ⁣

When Ryan comes home after work, I want him to notice all that I’ve done in my day—often without me saying anything. ⁣
I want him to praise me for exuding patience with our 3 year old. I want him to instinctively know that I loaded & unloaded the dishwasher 2x that day. I want him to not judge the mound of laundry consuming the loveseat. I want him to be impressed that dinner is ready at 4pm thanks to the slow cooker.

I just listened to the latest episode from Risen Motherhood and it hit me. The resentment I’ve been feeling because of the lack of recognition I’m seeking is ill placed. It’s not my husband’s job to make me feel worthy. ⁣

As a Christian, everyday my focus should be on being more Christ-like as a wife, mother, daughter and friend. Instead of focusing on how good I “appear” to those around me. I’m in desperate need of a focus shift. ⁣

Perhaps, you’re feeling this inside you to. If you are, reset your focus back in Him. Spend some time praying for God to reveal where and why you’re struggling.
